Public domain film from the Prelinger Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. Before KNRK, there was 970 the Beat. It was Portland's first alternative radio station. And it was on AM! It operated from 1991-1997 before switching formats, due to losing competition with alteranative rock FM counterparts. http://kck.st/1Ga0kR6 Portland Radio Project is a non-commercial community-centered radio station in Portland, Oregon. We love our local music scene and strive to give it a great platform. We play songs from local artists every 15 minutes and have bands in the studio several times each week for interviews and Drop-In Sessions. This was a project that was done for a Journalism course series called Gateway at the University of Oregon. This project really pushed me as a videographer forcing me to use a tripod in small locations. Good learning experience and giving me a greater appreciation for still shots that videographers produce. Special thanks to Kala and KBOO Radio for letting me get this great story!
